What is gemstone?
A gemstone is the naturally occurring crystalline form of a mineral, which is desirable for its beauty, rarity and usefulness as astro-remedies.
Common gemstones were classified into precious stones (cardinal gems) and semi-precious stones. Only four types of gemstones were considered precious: diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald.
Gem color and chemistry.
Chemical composition of every gem is different from each other.
Diamonds for example are made up of carbon (C) and rubies of aluminium oxide (Al2O3). Ruby is the red variety of the species corundum, while any other color of corundum is considered sapphire. Emerald (green), aquamarine (blue), bixbite (red), goshenite (colorless), heliodor (yellow), and morganite (pink).
Color is the most obvious and attractive feature of gemstones. The same material can exhibit different colors. For example Ruby and Sapphire have the same chemical composition(both are Corundum) but exhibit different colors. Even the same gemstone can occur in many different colors.
Gems prices can fluctuate heavily. In general prices of larger stones per carat are higher than those of smaller stones. It can vary from few hundred doller to 10 thousand dollars depending upon the size and weight.

Please Remember that no one can change his circumstance but can improve his ability. Stone can help you in this regard.
Normally, you should give power to that planet which is hemmed by melefic or which planets are weak in chart. Suppose, if Rahu affects Venus, person should not wear gemstone for Rahu but for Venus (and not both).

Some gemstones are manufactured to imitate other gemstones. The imitations copy the look and color of the real stone but possess neither their chemical nor physical characteristics. For example, diamonds, ruby, sapphires and emeralds have been manufactured in labs. They are available in the market. But their cost is low. Another point is, you should carefully notice if there is fracture on the surface of gem or inside the gem.
